The Lagos State University Part-time programme lets you gain admission to study selected courses at Lagos State University without writing JAMB.
It is also easy for candidates with a national diploma (ND) or higher national diploma to gain admission into the 200-level or 300-level respectively LASU Part-time programme.
In this article, you will see the list of courses available, the deadline for registration, how to apply for the form and the next step to take after applying.
Who is the LASU Part-time Programme for?
The Lagos State University Part-time programme is for people in different categories;
- It’s for people who have written JAMB once or multiple times and do not want to write JAMB again.
- It’s for people who want to work and school at the same time.
- If you have a National Diploma, Higher National Diploma or NCE certificate and you want to upgrade to a BSC, the LASU part-time programme is for you.
Things You Should Consider Before Buying the Form
Before you purchase the form, you have to consider the following factors so that you can plan for them accordingly;
The lecture schedule:
Lectures are held on Friday evenings, Saturdays and sometimes on Sundays. You have to plan to attend lectures early.
Venue:
The part-time students will receive lectures at the Ojo campus except for candidates applying for Nursing. Nursing students will receive lectures at the Ikeja campus.
Accommodation:
If you live far from Ojo, you have to consider your accommodation on the days of lectures.
For students who work, the best option is to spend a night at a hotel close to the school. There are affordable hotels around the school axis. You can pay for these hotels with a group of two or three people.
You can also pay other students who live close to the school and share a room with them when you come for lectures.
If you are not working and you don’t have plans to work throughout your stay in school, you can get accommodation close to the school.
Houses or private hostels around Ojo are more affordable than in other parts of Lagos.
Students studying Nursing can get accommodations around Ikeja and its environs.
Fees:
The form fee is 15,000 Naira, the Acceptance fee is 30,000 Naira, and a medical fee of 30,000 Naira will also be paid. The school fee is between the price of 120,000 Naira to 150,000 Naira.
The acceptance fee and medical fee are one-time payments.

LASU Part-time Form Requirements
The requirements needed to apply for the Lagos State University Part-time programme depend on the level you want to commence from. See the different levels and the requirement for the level below;
100 Level
The 100 level is the entry-level for candidates without any prior higher institution education. This level is for candidates with an O’level certificate or for candidates who have studied other courses at a higher institution but want to start all over.
You need to have at least five credits in relevant subjects.
200 Level
This is for candidates who have completed a National Diploma programme from a recognised Polytechnic in Nigeria or A’level programmes.
To qualify for admission through this level, you must have graduated with at least an upper credit or distinction from your respective polytechnic.
Candidates applying for this level must also have at least five credits in the relevant O’level subjects for the course they want to study at Lagos State University.
300 Level
Candidates with a Higher National Diploma from a recognized polytechnic in Nigeria can apply for admission into the 300 level of the LASU part-time programme.
Such candidate must have a higher national diploma certificate or statement of result for a relevant course and at least five credits in the required O’level subjects.
Through this programme, candidates can convert their HND certificates to BSC.
Age Requirements
Note that you must be at least 18 years of age to enrol for the Lagos State University Part-time programme.
How to Apply for the LASU Part-time Form
If you are interested in applying for the LASU Part-time programme, follow the steps below to complete the registration online.
Step 1: Check the O’level Subject Requirements
The first thing you need to do is to check your Olevel result and confirm if you have at least a credit in the required O’level subjects.

Step 2: Visit the LASU School of Part-time Studies Portal
The second step is to visit the Lagos State University school of part-time studies website.
While on the page, click on the box with the word “Apply for the programme”. See the image below.

Step 3: Fill in the Form
On the next page, you will be required to fill in details like your name, email address, phone number, gender and the course you want to apply for.
Fill in these details correctly.
Make sure you enter a valid email address and phone number as the school may want to reach out to you on both platforms.
Upload your passport photograph and click on continue.

Step 4: Fill in your O’level Details
Click the green text to open a new tab and enter your exam details.

Enter your exam type, exam month, exam number and exam year. In the exam subjects tab, enter the number of subjects you want to add from your SSCE result (the minimum is 5).
Click the add button when you are done.

If you are applying with a single O’level result, you can add all the subjects on the result to this page but if you are applying with two results, you can add only the subjects you had good grades in from each result to the page.
For example, if you had credit in English language on one result, instead of adding it to the second seating, you add it to only the first seating. See the image below.

Click on update when you are done.
Close this tab and go back to the previous tab.
Refresh the tab and proceed to the next step.
Step 5: Make Payment
After refreshing/reloading, the payment link will appear. Copy your application number and paste it into a place where you can access it later on.
Click the payment link.
You might get an error message like in the image below. Click on choose currency.

Select Naira if you are paying with a Naira debit card.

From the list of payment categories, select “Part-time Degree Programme Ojo”.

Paste your application number in the appropriate tab. Under the choose payment option, select “Application fee”. See the image below.

Select your currency once again and click on the continue button.
Your details from step 2 will appear here. Enter your email address in the “email” and “confirm email” tabs. Enter your phone number.

Select the amount (15,000 Naira) and click on next.
Preview your information, if everything is correct, tick the terms and conditions box. A pop-up will appear at the top of your screen, click on “Okay”.

Click the “Pay on Paytech” button to proceed.
Select the pay with card option and enter your card detail to complete your payment.

Step 6: Print your Application Form and Receipt
If your payment is successful, you can print your application form and receipt.

Deadline for the LASU Part-time Form
The school did not give a specific date but they announced that the form will close 6 weeks after it was announced.
The sale of the form was announced on February 21, 2023.
We speculate that the deadline for the LASU Part-time form will be April 4, 2023.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does LASU Part-time Require JAMB UTME?
No, it doesn’t. However, you need to do a part-time registration with JAMB. This registration does not have a deadline and you won’t need to seat for an exam.
The purpose of doing this registration is to get a JAMB registration number for the NYSC exemption letter when you are done with your studies.
How many years is the LASU Part-time programme?
The programme will be concluded within 5 years.
Can a LASU Part-time Student serve (NYSC)?
After completing the part-time programme at Lagos State University, you won’t be eligible to enrol for the National Youth Service in Nigeria. However, you will get an NYSC exemption letter.
How much is the LASU Part-time school fee per semester?
School fee is paid per session/academic year, not per semester. The school fee is between 120,000 Naira to 150,000 Naira.
